This book is set in a golden era in oyster farming on the Georges River, in the early 1970's. as recalled by the author Maxine Drake. The practice of taking oysters straight from the river to market ended in 1978 when human pollution required oysters to undergo 36 hours of purification before sale. This book draws on the memories of Maxines memories from the 1970's during her active childhood on the Georges River. The book seeks to share facts about Oyster Farming at that time as well as the experience of growing up on the river.
